OVERVIEW

4 Seasons 5 Elements was a Photography and Digital Art Exhibition held at the Japan Creative Centre, Singapore, in June 2012. The exhibition explored the beauty of Japan's four seasons through photography, alongside a creative narrative of nature's five elements expressed through Japanese packaging art and design.

The brochure needed to extend this aesthetic experience beyond the exhibition space. It needed to frame the beauty and character of the works in a way that would appeal to visitors, encourage them to revisit the exhibition, and remain meaningful enough to keep or share with someone who would appreciate it.

SOLUTIONS

• A visual invitation: Photography, typography and generous white space were composed to reflect the exhibition's refined Japanese aesthetic and create an inviting introduction to the works.
• Two contrasting covers: Two seasonal cover treatments offered different visual interpretations of the exhibition while making the brochure more distinctive and memorable.
• A keepsake beyond the exhibition: The compact format and considered presentation gave the brochure a life beyond the event — something visitors could revisit, keep as a memento or pass on to someone who shared an interest in Japanese art and design.
